NOBLE CHARACTER
There is nothing so influential to the mind then examples of other people’s choices and how those decisions had natural consequences, both of rewards and punishments. When I first started using the tales of the Old and New Testaments in our homeschool, I had no idea how I was instructing our children’s conscience to rightly name good, good and evil, evil. I truly believed I was simply telling our children stories.
Imagine my surprise when our children had stronger convictions than I had at their age, all because the examples of rewards and punishments instructed their conscience.
In culture, full of opinion, preferences, and philosophies that are wrongly naming good, evil and evil, good, homeschool moms must choose her curriculum wisely to instruct the conscience of their children so they willingly form their opinions, preferences, and philosophies to align with Scripture.
Instruct Your Children’s Conscience With Examples From the Bible
Most Bible curriculum provide busy work that appeases homeschool laws. However, the fact that more than 70% of young adults, ages 18-24 years old are walking away from their childhood faith, including those that attend Christian schools and graduated homeschools, and conforming to the conduct of this world, proves that not all Christian curriculum is created equal. Without an understanding of how to instruct the conscience, the curriculum gets done, without the ideas being accepted.
That can all change with Noble Character that began with just carefully selected Scriptures to disciple and discipline faulty character out of our children in 2002, while I was tending to the newborn needs of our third child. As the years passed, and my knowledge of how the conscience is instructed, I turned a simple “Discipleship Book” to form Christian habits in our kids, into a 12-week Bible Study for our younger children and hundreds of homeschool families.
With my understanding of how ideas are inwardly digested to form philosophies that determine conduct, I created the corresponding Discussion Guide, designed to test if an idea has been accepted in all FIVE phases of the mind: observant, faith, debate, philosophy, and conduct.
